8/13/2025 - SPOTLIGHT: Recycling trends may be back on the rise in BCMUD

Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents,

We want to update you on Districtwide recycling numbers through July 2025, as well as show you how those numbers compare against previous years.

The District has shown a downward trend in tonnage recycled since 2022. In that year, 1,491.48 tons of materials were recycled, followed by 1,388.25 tons in 2023 and 1,273.95 tons in 2024.

That represents a 14.58% decrease in recycling between 2022 and 2024. However, if 2025 numbers continue, it looks like the downward trend could be reversing.

So far through July 2025, BCMUD residents have recycled 749.96 tons of materials. By the end of July 2024, that tonnage stood at 783.04, representing a deficit of only 4.2%.

We feel this positive trend can easily continue, and we want to encourage our residents to learn more about all the ways there are to recycle through our trash and recycling collection partner Texas Disposal Systems, as well as through other local channels.

More information on recycling can be found here.
